Pawn Shops Save me Money

Friday, June 27th, 2008

As a student and a musician, I often find it difficult to come up with the necessary funds to buy equipment that I need. The members of my band and I purchase all of our instruments and other equipment from pawn shops. Many people do not know, but guitars, drum sets, keyboards, and amps cost quite a bit of money. Fortunately, we’ve been able to find all of these items at pawn shops nearby. We’ve saved a lot of money! So thank you pawnbrokers because without your shops, it would not be possible for us to continue playing.

Ebay vs Pawn Shop

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I did some research the other day comparing Ebay and some pawn shops in my area, and thought I would share what I found with all of you. If you’re looking to save money and get the exact product that you want, go to pawn shops, NOT Ebay! From my experience and what I’ve gathered from my friends’ experiences with Ebay, for a new product, there isn’t much of a discount–maybe 5-10% from the retail price. At a pawn shop, I’ve found brand new items discounted as much as 50%! When I compared the prices of items that I bought at pawn shops to their prices on Ebay, I found a significant difference. Pawn shop prices were consistently lower. Also, shopping at a pawn shop guarantees that you get your iteam the second you pay for it; you don’t have to wait for the item to ship like on Ebay! (and you don’t have to pay for the shipping fee). Because of these reasons, a pawn shop is just a better, more convenient place to shop. I encourage you to share your opinions on this topic.

Best Purchase at Pawn Shop

Friday, June 27th, 2008

My favorite thing about pawn shops is the variety of items that are for sale. Often, I will visit my local pawn without any idea of what I’m looking for, but I always seem to find an item worth purchasing. I’m curious to what other people have found at pawn shops. My best purchase so far was a video Ipod; I use it everyday when I workout and on the train to work. Now a lot of people may say that you can get an Ipod at all electronic stores, so why go to a pawn shop? I’ll tell you why! I bought the Ipod for $180 when it was retailing for around $300, and it was in mint condition. Has anyone saved loads of money like me by shopping at pawn shops? I want to hear your best purchases!

Pawn shops

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Pawn shops have gotten a bad rep but a lot of people do not understand why a pawn shop really is a big part of the American culture. Let’s say you hold a garage sale and you put your items that you no long wish on the front lawn. People who are looking for a bargain come by and grab the deals. Simple commerce. Buying at a pawn shop is pretty much the same. People put items in pawn that, at least for the time being, they can do without. The pawn shop only gives them a fraction of the value because they may have to sell it later and if the market weeks from now is down, that item can collect dust for a long time. You get the cash, they get item and if you want it back later, then all you have to do is pay back the loan. Not a bad deal. Let’s see you go to someone who purchased that radio at a garage sale and sell it back to you.
