I took a 2 hour road trip down to Garland Texas the other day with 9 of my cousins. We took my Ford F-150 pick up. 3 sat in front, 4 in back, and 2 in the truck bed. We took the trip to go see a rodeo in the Garland area. Supposedly the most famous bull rider was in town– Willy “Crazy Legs” Johnson was his name. They called him crazy legs because he’s been thrashed by so many bulls that his legs wobble when he walks. I can’t believe he’s still doing rodeos! Anyways, we arrived at the rodeo arena, bought our tickets, grabbed some peanuts, and took our seats. We were first row! Turns out, “Crazy Legs” was retired and he was there as a spectator–oh well. Instead, they had a special feature for all the big rodeo fans– the world’s only midget bull rider. This guy was listed at 4 feet tall and 85 pounds. I was excited! The rodeo began and the midget was tossed into the air in a split second. He landed on his feet and sprinted as fast as he could towards the exit. The bull didn’t get to him and was visibly angry. Infuriated and looking to do damage, the bull spotted my cousin Rod. I guess Rod didn’t get the memo that bulls are attracted to red. Rod was wearing a red shirt, red shorts, with red socks, and red tennis shoes. He resembled the Koolaid man a little bit. Well, the bull charged into the first row and threw Rod into the air about ten feet. Boy did he look like helpless! We did all we could to distract the bull, but nothing worked. Finally the bull backed off and left Rod lying on the ground. We feared he may be dead, but he moved. Thank the lord. He was rushed to the ER. On our way to the parking lot to meet Rod at the hospital, we saw the midget bull rider sitting on a curb crying. He said that since he didn’t ride the bull long enough and fans fled the arena, he would receive no pay for the event. I felt bad for the little guy! He said he had no money.
