I’m in love with the Arboretum! It’s actually a little crazy. My mom says I’m a little crazy. I came to the University of Santa Cruz and I found a whole new passion. I go to the Arboretum so much I know all the staff members personally. They let me in even when the arboretum shuts down. There are so many different species of plants that I want to learn about and I’m sure I will. I figured out my calling in life is to be a biologist. I changed my major from gender studies.

The Arboretum was going to bring in more trees and they would dedicate the trees to the people who donated to it. They were trying to raise money in the next few months so the trees can be grown during their best growing season. I couldn’t not help them raise money. Of course I want a tree named after me. I gave my time to help raise money but I also found a way to raise some of my own.
